Andersen Guilty of Shredding Files in Enron Scandal

Off with their heads! Nevermind that the real evil was done by current fatcats sitting in Fl with homestead protections from bankruptcy laws and essentially judgment proof. Nevermind that Andersen, though they were stupid and did break the law, were first in the chute because they were by far the easiest target. Nevermind that it is highly doubtful that Andersen could, in any way, shape the actions of their clients and no amount of SEC rules is going to change that. I almost became an Android once (as the worker bees at Andersen Consulting (as it was then known) were called). Really glad I didn't now.

Oracle e-mail targets cash contributions

Oh. My. Gawd. Graft! Whoda thunk it? Of course, this article just reaffirms that lobbyists are about a half an evolutionary step below used car salespeople in the grand scheme of things.

The Trouble With "Homeland"

The Trouble With “Homeland”

The phrase is creepy. And fascist. And unnecessary. My vote goes for the Deptartment of We-Need-a-Political-Distraction-and-Redundancy Department.

Teflon Don is Dead

He was a horrible, stupid, man. Any person with an ounce of brains could've remained a free man in his situation. But he was too vain, in love with the spotlight. According to A&E, he was really the laughingstock of the five families due to his antics. But he was useful because he drew attention away from the real action. So, is Sammy “the Bull” Gravano still living?

7-year-old boy earns Microsoft certificate

Unintentionally funny re: the skill required to pass the test
intentionally maudlin re: the child's circumstances.

Subpoena Martha Stewart!

I always knew that bitch was evil. Now, in addition to singlehandedly setting feminism back 30 years, she's an inside trader and should be prosecuted as such. No mercy for rich blueblood fakers who deny their ethnicity and act as beards for gay men!

A Rift Among Bloggers

Hey, if the NYTimes is onto the blogging thing, it's got to be mainstream. It's more about the difference in style from the pre-9/11 crowd to the post-9/11 jingoistic numbskulls crowd. Oops, didn't mean to editorialize there. Yes I did.

Paramount Pictures Corp. v ReplayTV & SonicBlue

Those wacky kids at the MPAA are essentially suing consumers (can't have vicarious liability without end-user violation of the copyright).

Roaring Penguin takes on those Tocqueville pikers

Actually, I don't think the argument is all that well-written, but i like the RP guys and the tocqueville institute has microsoft's hand so far up their ass, they might as well be muppets. bad muppets, like elmo. not good muppets like those two guys in the balcony.

Sex Offender: Branded for Life

Sex Offender: Branded for Life

Publishing sex offender info on the web. I'm still in the I-haven't-thought-about-the-issue-in-depth camp when it comes to the permanent scarlet lettering of sex offenders after they have supposedly served their time and made up their debt to society. Either they need counselling, or they've served their debt. I can't see an easy answer to the justification for the brandishment, but then again, I don't have any kids.
