States settle CD price-fixing case
Yeah, P2P sharing of music was what was causing their problems. Oh yeah. Poopyhead oligopolistas.

Gammons? After scary stretches of reason, back to Moronville
Damning quote:
The MVP, when possible, is about valued impact winning, and while Alex Rodriguez was unquestionably the best player in the American League this season and may have produced the most Sabermetric wins, the Rangers were out of it by May.
Would they have been out of it in April without ARod? This is a shortstop who could hit 60 HR!. This is the second-to-fifth best player in the game right now, having a stellar season. You sportswriting ninnies!
Pick for MVP: Tejada. Damning quote:
But Tejada has had a season unlike any shortstop in history (except A-Rod) -- for a team that could never have won 100 games without him.
So the fact that ARod would have helped the A's win more games than Tejada did if he had been on their team has no bearing?! Ridiculous!
Ever Imagine What dubya Looks Like as a Woman?
OMFG, this is funny. I think the Mariah-george is the funniest. ow. sides hurt.
Good antidote to that horrifically effective retard trap/panhandle site, known as save karyn. Beyotch, we've all got debt. Live within your means.
My, what fortuitous timing, dontchya think? My, my, my. Yes, very serendipitous that they found weapons-grade uranium being smuggled to Syria, probably, in a country (Turkey) that every news report makes sure to mention borders Iraq. My, my, my.
Quarter-million march against war
You hear that, you blood-thirsty bushies? That's the sound of you and your machinations being recognized for the evil doublespeak that they really are.
Microsoft FrontPage Susceptible To Major Security Flaws
You know, ever since I first used FPE back in, oh, '96 or '97 they've had security flaws.
So you're telling me that they're still there? And now they allow someone to root the box? Oh ho ho HO!
If they were open sourced, this never would've happened
US warplanes bomb Iraq?s Basra airport
What the fuck are those bloodthirsty, never-been-in-battle, we-need-to -win-this-election republican shitheads doing now? We've gone from “patroling the no-fly zone” to bombing their airports? That's a prelude for war. And if Saddam didn't have a causus belli against us before, he sure does now.
We truly do live in a banana republic dictatorship. Down with the illegitimate government!
Spears warns against piracy (RIAA running TV ads)
Hey Spears, Missy Elliot, Nelly, and Metallica, et. al.:
You pathetic, label-driven muppets. You know, or you should know, that you make most of your money off of merchanidising and concert sales. On a per-download basis, you are *maybe* losing a penny… but by spreading your music to others, you are increasing your fan base. You know, the people who come to your concerts, buy your shirts and your stickers and your at-the-door CD sales? These sales at your concerts will benefit you to an amount far greater than a penny. So you should be encouraging as many people around the world to listen to your shit. Seriously. Because the more people that listen, the more people that like. Simple equation, that. To reiterate the equation in terms you simpletons can understand: more listeners = more money in your pocket. Got it? Now quit shilling for the mooks.
The only losers in downloaded music are brick n' mortar stores and the distribution companies (you know, those non-artists who own your masters?). And there, it's their own fault for being too hidebound to recognize a distributional and technological seachange when it occurs, for being too inflexible to move with the time when the sole problem their industry is built around solving – getting music into listeners' hot little hands – has been wiped out, for being too unimaginative to think up a solution that doesn't involve litigation. They did it to themselves, and like unimaginative, tremulous, oligopolistic geezers with time on their hands worldwide, their first response is to use the legal system to hold on to their decaying position.
If they build a better napster, the people will come, and people will even pay for it. If you make better music, the people will buy it, in whatever form it is presented. If they build a worse service and try to enforce it through technological measures (corrupted cd's, DRM) or legal measures (DMCA, bonehead copyright extension, suing everyone in the world (but they're only to the “C”'s now), people will go outside of the distributor-only channels. It's a matter of efficiency and compelling content, people.
Until you understand this, until you acknowledge and cease your complicity in reinforcing a medieval-level trade guild monopoly, until you understand the true economics of the situation, until you realize that you are a packaged commodity the equivalent of a doll in her pink box… shut the fuck up, you rich, deluded, greedy bastards.
And remember, fair use is not a crime!
Quote: WASHINGTON — House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-Texas), the No. 2 leader in the House, has come under fire for comments that Democratic critics said amounted to a “personal attack” on American Jews who do not share his conservative views.
Armey, speaking at an event in Florida on Friday, was quoted by a local paper as saying: “I always see two Jewish communities in America: one of deep intellect and one of shallow, superficial intellect.
“Conservatives have a deeper intellect and tend to have occupations of the brain in fields like engineering, science and economics,” Armey said, while liberals flock to “occupations of the heart.”
He said that in Florida? In the 21st century? In FLORIDA?!? Bwa!hahahh!
Vigilante Justice for Copyright Holders
Uh, nope. Congressperson Berman, you sir, are a deluded ninny being fed big money by the big media. Disruption and spoofing of P2P networks is, by current congressional definition, a terrorist attack.
Go sit on a stick and spin. Tell Mickey we said hi. Fair use is not a crime.
current illegitimate administration aside, you don't go into your neighbor's house if they took something from you and trash the joint. No, you call the police, you nitwit.
Are congresspeople always such muppets? You are a shame to the less-evil party, citizen Berman.
Liberty Alliance Project names president
It's been a while, but the eventual Panopticon “winner” named a president. And, yes, I'm searching for stories to try out all my icons with, thank you. But Panopticon is always interesting. Shutup! It is too!
Russian film star dies in avalanche
This would never happen in litigious America, but still… what a tragic way to go. On some beautiful mountains, you detonate some charges to clear out the avalanches… and then you get buried under millions of tons of snow, ice, and dirt. Sounds like something Stephen Crane would've written.
Net archive silences Scientology critic
Those scientologists are a scary bunch, no? the ashcroft gestapo could learn a lot from the anti-clambake bunch.
Really, it's just a bunch of webadmins who delete the whole business rather than what is required. What they need to say in response to those dipwad scientologist cease-n-desist letters is to request a list of URL's, or portions to be excised. The burden of the “copyright” policing should be placed on the enforcer-wannabes, not the contributory “infringers.” Especially when the complaints can only be based on publication of copyrighted materials.
So, they've gone after amazon, google, and xenu multiple times now. That Norwegian dude who runs xenu is a tough sonuvabitch, man. You go, boy.
