Is Everything We Learned a Myth?

A wake up call to the slaughter cows sitting in front of their TVs. Nothing new, but we need all the energy we can get to fight the mega-capitalist opiates.

Writing history with Microsoft's Office lock-in

So much for open standards and XML compliance. Now you get WordML … because by enforcing a binary closed schema, they can force you to stick with MS Office. That's fine, but they should be taken to task for proclaiming themselves the champions of open standards and XML, XML, XML.

BitTorrent

The best P2P sharing solution I've yet encountered, and great for those ISOs. Basically it works on the model that the more people that are downloading, the bigger the network gets. Because if you're downloading, you're sharing the bits you've just downloaded with others downloading the same thing. Network effects on the network. Schweet. Get it. Now.

Illicit Arms Kept Till Eve of War, an Iraqi Scientist Is Said to Assert

You'll have to excuse me while I have a *bullshit* minor *bullshit* coughing *bullshit* fit.

And I quote:
“Under the terms of her accreditation to report on the activities of MET Alpha, this reporter was not permitted to interview the scientist or visit his home. Nor was she permitted to write about the discovery of the scientist for three days, and the copy was then submitted for a check by military officials.

Those officials asked that details of what chemicals were uncovered be deleted. They said they feared that such information could jeopardize the scientist's safety by identifying the part of the weapons program where he worked.”

*bullshit*

.NOT now, please: vacuuming MS renames products

so much for .NET… so much for “betting the company on .NET” bullshit. heh. told you that even they didn't know what the hell .NET was. I even wrote a memo pointing out how .NET was trying to be everything to everyone and was thus meaningless. Whatever. They're going down.
