Microsoft loses city of Munich deal to Linux
The Forbes article on the Munich switch to F/OSS. According to Forbes, “Steve Ballmer had personally campaigned for Microsoft's counter-offer to the city, based on Windows XP.”
This is a big, big loss for MS. Losing to Linux in developing countries is one thing. Losing in Western Europe is a portent.

Adds fuel to the SCO-is-a-puppet-of-MSFT fire. For those that don't know, SCO's entire remaining business practice is to sue Linux companies for patent infringement. SCO loses every time, but that doesn't seem to stop them… which makes the puppet theory far more compelling than it would otherwise be. I'm not saying it's true or right, but I understand.
