David Nelson, could you step aside for a few moments?

There's a nationwide list of names of people who aren't allowed on a plane for any reason.

Apparently “David Nelson” is one of them.

Interview with Display Works Inc.

Using KDE on the desktop in an enterprise environment… and they love it. But they're Canadian, so, you know, it's of course irrelevant to American interests.

Sweet! OGG becoming an open standard can be the best fuckin thing to happen to compressed audio, ever. No patent encumbrance and it sounds great.

In Reversal, Plan for Iraq Self-Rule Has Been Put Off

“In an abrupt reversal, the United States and Britain have indefinitely put off their plan to allow Iraqi opposition forces to form a national assembly and an interim government by the end of the month.”

Gee, you don't say!

How Microsoft Warded Off Rival

Awwww shit. Orlando Ayala's memos have leaked to the NYTimes… and the EU's probably going to come down with both feet.

I haven't checked /. yet, but I'll bet there's a shitstorm flying over there.

Cop takes 'midnight photos' of teacher's classroom

There are some obvious legal issues here as well, but this isn't all that much different from the cop forcing those two kids on the way to an abortion clinic to go to an anti-abortion place a few years back.

And still the cop thinks he was justified. What I want? Head + Pike.

Figuratively speaking, of course.

Secret Service Questions Students

Welcome to the Republican ideal state: don't ask questions, don't think, don't be original. If you dare question the powers that be, our Gestapo^h^h^h^h^h Secret Service will be paying you a little visit.

The teacher who reported them should be fired. The principal who allowed this to happen should be fired. Immediately.

US: 'Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction'

… and yet duhbya keeps repeating the lie that Iraq did have them when such revelation would be beneficial to duhbya.

Take action now! Fight the propaganda of this illegitimate government! You have the power, you can do it. Just don't buy the lies.

Apple Tweaks Microsoft Over a New Computer

Yeah, that Athens PC looks nothing like an iMac. Nope, not at all. And the next failed MS OS doesn't owe a crapload to the interface tweaks of OS X at all. Nope. Definitely, positively, not.

The Spamhaus Project, London, UK

The Spamhaus Project, London, UK

Spamhaus is a group that attempts to block spam. The vast majority of spam comes from one of two sources; either open relays (usually in non-Western world countries) or from dedicated spammers. Spamhaus blacklists the latter, and a suit has been filed by anonymized spammers using the “group” EMarketersAmerica.org using SLAPP as the justification (the spam site was registered by the same guy who filed the suit. Attorney doing both or some schmoe doing pro se, I don't know).

Whatever. The point here is that spammers are vile cretins who are sullying the commons and deserve every bit of evil, bad karma, and bile heaped upon them. If I ever strike it rich, I'm going to devote my pro bono time to publishing the home addresses of these spamming assmunches.
