French to Oprah – go away, you fahking American
So Oprah (Miss Winfrey, if you’re nasty) decides to do some after-hours shopping in Paris. You know, after-hours. Like after-the-store-has-closed hourse. The people closing up the shop refuse to open their doors for her.
Therefore, obviously, .
As opposed to, you know, people who try to get into a store after it has closed.
The incident occurred when Winfrey stopped by Hermes on June 14 to buy a watch minutes after the boutique closed. Though she and three friends said they saw shoppers inside, neither a sales clerk nor manager would let them in.
Winfrey believes the store’s staff had identified her, according to a spokeswoman from Harpo Production Inc., her company. Winfrey’s friend, Gayle King, who was there, told Entertainment Tonight, “Oprah describes it as ‘one of the most humiliating moments of her life.’” Harpo says Winfrey plans to discuss the incident in the context of race relations on her show this fall.
As if you needed more reason to hate the entitled celebrity culture. Oprah’s been through far worse things in her life than not having a store open up for her after hours, but if this is the new standard for humiliation of celebs… fuck all y’all, and fuck Oprah for being an entitled narcissist.
And double fuck Oprah for turning this into some racist bullshit. People in the service industry? They have lives too. They’d like to go home to their lovers and spouses and children after the rich aliens buy their trinkets, and just because one of these aliens can’t be bothered to abide by the human normative concept of “time” does not mean that these service people are racist.
Thought the same things when I first saw this….oh, Boo Hoo. My money didn’t buy me special privlieges so lets play the race card.
What pisses me off about this bullshit is that everybody, and I MEAN EVERYBODY knows that if it was ANY ONE of us middle class working schlubs standing outside that door, they wouldn’t have opened it for us either. Oh, the humiliation. Get over yourself lady!
Oprah doesn’t seem to grasp for a second that out of one side of her mouth she is claiming PRIVILEGE of SOCIAL STATUS while crying SOCIAL DISCRIMINATION out of the other. Most of us are never goint to have the money and power to even worry about whether a high class Parisian store is showing us the PROPER RESPECT. The emphasis this woman puts on wealth and status is disgusting.
You know, maybe Oprah should get her head out of her ass and realize its not all about materialism and people bowing and scraping to you.. Oh, its all kind of cool to get all of the publicity and accalades by giving an entire middle class studio audience brand new automobiles to drive home. Maybe it would have been more socially relevant to recruit a studio audience of mimimum wage families and buy them a couple of years worth of health insurance instead. I’m guessing that little watch she wanted to buy in Hermes probably was going to cost her more money than the average minimum wage worker earns in a year. Maybe if she had a chance to see what real social and economic discrimination is and put some of that on her show, she wouldn’t have time to sit around and feel sorry for herself.
