As if it weren’t hard enough to root for the M’s
Jon Daniels, the new GM in Texas, has made nothing but outstanding move after outstanding move. Today, he signed D’Angelo Jimenez to a minor league contract. So for nothing, he just picked up a guy who had a terrible partial season last year, but has a career OBP of .350, a bit of pop, and plays an up-the-middle defensive position (2B). And Jimenez is just insurance in case Ian Kinsler doesn’t work out. This, on top of dumping Soriano for Wilkerson, Sledge, and Galarraga which was a steal of monumental proporations.
What I’m saying is that the AL West just got a bunch tougher. You’ve got two great GMs, one pretty good one… and Bill Bavasi.
Good thing I’m not a fan, huh. Writing about the local team seems unavoidable, I guess, and I’m starved for baseball.
