Tape Ascribed to bin Laden Urges Muslims to Stand With Iraq

Colin, your undies are showing. Key passages: “fighting on the same side of godless regimes like that of Saddam Hussein was justified by the greater good of battling the United States.” (emphasis added)

“The fighting should be in the name of God only, not in the name of national ideologies, nor to seek victory for the ignorant governments that rule all Arab states, including Iraq.

Yeah, that's a real strong link, bushies. Pffft. And the American media has been embarassingly unquestioning. Looks like the prime time drivebys are working, eh wot? The BBC has a full transcription of the tape available.

Baghdad Back Flip: Colin Powell's cynical reversal

If you want to know why the rest of the world doesn't trust us, and why nothing coming out of our government about Iraq should be taken without a hefty bag full of “whatever.” Squeal, Powell, squeal!

U.S. Raises Terror Alert, Warning of High Risk of Attacks

This, of course, has absolutely nothing to do with making people feel uneasy (“warning: apartment complexes may be targets!”) and itching for a fight immediately prior to our invasion of Iraq. Oh, did I say invasion? I mean fully-justified enforcement of UN Resolutions, of course. pffft. We're always at high risk from terrorist attack, it's just a fact of life these days. Whatever.

Transcript of Powell's presentation to the UN

Transcript of Powell's presentation to the UN

Amazing how the entirety of the al Qaida linkage was a) primarily dated to the mid-90s and b) in the last few minutes of the presentation, no? What we have here is the hawks, given free reign by the attacks on the WTC lash out at Afghanistan. Sensing their newfound freedom and steroid-fueled rage they want to continue to lash out. Who's next? Oh yeah, that guy that we didn't take out last time (Powell was the one who recommended we stop by the way). So let's try to link the former with the latter. Failing that, hey, UN resolution. Note, there's still no causus belli but whatever, we want to punch somebody. So we'll shotgun the possible justifications, hope some of 'em stick, and bomb anyway regardless.

I mean it's not as if our own CIA director said that the one way to ensure that chemical weapons arrived in the hands of terrorists would be to attack Iraq. Oh wait, he did say that.

Sure Iraq is not complying with it's terms and deserves to be smacked. But to what end? We're going to have to build a new state thereafter, and our record in Afghanistan is anything but encouraging. We're going to end up without Saddam (yay), but with terrorists having chem weapons and a whole new generation of terrorists as we white devils camp around the Tigris and Euphrates.

In other news, North Korea started their nuclear program again today. As the Onion said “Bush on North Korea: 'We Must Invade Iraq'”

Germany Won't Back Attack on Iraq

Germany Won't Back Attack on Iraq

See, this just goes to show you how badly the warmongering Rove/Bushies screwed the pooch on this one. a) multilaterlism, much like a diversified stock portfolio, decreases your risk (here, that our asses are going to be hanging over the fire for a good bunch of years as this ill-fated adventure leads to “nation building”) and b) not invoking the NATO clauses whereby one country at war = all countries at war. Technically, (b) should've been invoked for our “war on terrorism/your civil liberties” which would make it much, much easier to swing NATO into Iraq. But they didn't so it won't.

Instead, you're stuck with no causus belli after months and months of searching, and planting stories for, and trying to get people riled up towards … and your asses are still hanging over the fire. Meanwhile the economy remains flat/in the dumps (dumps for me, flat for nation), you have no domestic agenda (just like daddy), and are beginning to advocate regressive taxes.

You know, 2004 isn't looking so bad for the Dems after all. Oh, wait. This is the Clintonless Dems we're talking about here. Nevermind.

President Makes Case That North Korea Is No Iraq

Let's see, one is a genocidal, psychopathic, dictatorship that rules with an iron fist… and the other one is that + oil + it's considered your daddy's biggest failure (although not by some).

Yep, they're totally different. The oil has absolutely nothing to do with it. At all.

Also, no flyover rights. So that leaves, what, Turkey? And flying in from that bathtub known as the Persian gulf. Oh yeah, we're all about unilateralism here.

“oil” and “Israel.” In any honest appraisal of the war, the true underpinnings need to be discussed. I agree with Kinsley on the ex post facto justifications being the predominant “wisdom” of today.

Uranium Seized In Turkey

My, what fortuitous timing, dontchya think? My, my, my. Yes, very serendipitous that they found weapons-grade uranium being smuggled to Syria, probably, in a country (Turkey) that every news report makes sure to mention borders Iraq. My, my, my.

US warplanes bomb Iraq?s Basra airport

What the fuck are those bloodthirsty, never-been-in-battle, we-need-to -win-this-election republican shitheads doing now? We've gone from “patroling the no-fly zone” to bombing their airports? That's a prelude for war. And if Saddam didn't have a causus belli against us before, he sure does now.

We truly do live in a banana republic dictatorship. Down with the illegitimate government!

Bush Calls Iraqi Vow a Trick; Rumsfeld Urges Early Action

bushie, et. al., yesterday: What? They acceded to all of our demands, you say? They will unconditionally allow weapons inspections? How can they do that to us. I wanna shoot some missiles! Oh wait, I know.

*ahem* people of america, this is your retarded, unelected president speaking. uh, yes. Sure Iraq completely bowed to our will, even after I told you that they wouldn't… but don't you believe it. They are lying to you. They're not going to really let us in to look at their weapon factories! Really! Believe me! Me. Me! Me me me me! Because they don't want to avoid an unjust invasion by our poor and underprivileged… I mean, brave soldiers. Sadayam wants to die! He told me so hisself. I did I mention that Sudum had a dream once where he was building a clock? That clock, ladies and gentlemen, was attached to a nuclear bomb! Yes it was. Believe me! Me. Me! Me me me me!

Because Saidem is a liar, the non-elected leader of a morally bankrupt government.

Which is completely unlike myself. So, invade now! Nookclear bomb! and terrorism! with some strategery! Booga booga booga!!!
